The Alabama 4-H State Council is composed of approximately 28 energetic
and positive high school juniors and seniors who act as ambassadors for
4-H. One of their major responsibilities is planning the Alabama 4-H Mid-Winter Teen Leadership Retreat at the Alabama 4-H Center in February every year.
Members
are selected from their extension areas through an application process. The youth meet 3-4 times during the year at the
Alabama 4-H Center and through video conferencing. They get to know each other through team
building activities, retreat planning, and promoting 4-H across Alabama. These activities help them form friendships that last a lifetime.
The Alabama 4-H State Council members also serve as ambassadors for 4-H, often
meeting with county councils and 4-H groups in their local areas. State 4-H Competitive Events Day, Citizenship Alabama Focus and other state 4-H events also keep the
council active.
